This website has been developed as a lasting tribute to the life and creative work of my mother Joan Brown who was born in Kilburn in 1929, grew up in Ilford and lived all her married life in Maidstone, Kent until she died at the age of 80 in June 2010.

Joan was a tremendously talented and creative woman who drew or painted all the pictures featured on this website. She has left this body of work as a wonderful legacy to her family and friends but she was more than happy to share it with the world at large.

During her life she had strived to display and sell her work at many traditional exhibitions. One day in the spring of 2010 just before she died I had pushed Mum in her wheelchair into the beautiful grounds of the nursing home with bluebells flowering all around and I said to her "how would you like have your paintings displayed on a website for everyone to see". I remember her eyes lighting up and a smile emerging across her face, as she thought this was a wonderful idea. I said I would see what I could do.

Whilst the project to create this website has taken me rather longer than I would have liked, what you now see is the promise I made to my Mum on that beautiful spring day, made good. I hope you enjoy browsing these pictures. Please feel free to view the images which are mostly of oil and watercolour paintings and pen and ink drawings. If you wish to own an original or use an image commercially please contact me.
